What is Plenum Cable?

The plenum means a invisible space in a building which is used for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and to run cables. The space is usually in a ceiling or a floor. Plenum cables are placed in these invisible spaces.

Plenum cable must meet several conditions: Plenum cable can't be burned easily. It must be fire resistant. It must not emit fumes while exposed to extreme high tempreture. In order to meet these conditions, materials used in plenum cable is different and special. So the price is usually higher. Plenum cable is usually more stiff than other commom network cable.
